       Live from Ukraine

Submitted by Liz. Listen to the first five (5) minutes [of this 51-minute piece], just to get a feel for it. Please note that nothing happens on the video the 2:30 mark, so you will probably want to skip ahead to that point. This is new music for solo piano. Antony Baryshevsky, a critically acclaimed pianist, international competitions laureate, soloist of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine, performs "Greenland", a piano cycle by Alexey Shmurak. The premiere of this work took place in Kyiv, two days before the Russian invasion. "Greenland" consists of three parts: 1. Railway etude (2:30-12:55). 2. Sled dogs (13:15-21:21). 3. Ice variations (21:25 -51:00).

       Alyona Alyona: Big and Funny

Also submitted by Liz. Beware: It's rap! Alyona Alyona learned how to rap by listening to an Eminem CD. A lot of Ukranian pop music was sung in Russia prior to 2014. Even when the songs are primarily in Ukranian, artists will switch to Russian if they want to get a message through to their Russian listeners (about the war, for example).

       Alexey Shmurak: Babylon, for piano

Submitted by Lewis. Listen to five minutes of the Nastassja Khrushcheva recording. Optionally, all 10 minutes.

       Kalush Orchestra: Stefania

Submitted by Alice, who writes: I am really not a fan of American Rap, but this. It has a similar feel to it, but I love the energy. The cool flute, amazing dancing and costumes drew me in. Made me want to dance!

Zelenskyy on Dancing with the Stars
